In Spring 2025 we proudly launched the Moving the Box programme designed to support early years educators in identifying and support children at risk of not achieving a Good Level of Development.
Since then we been working with six local authorities across England, 200 providers and schools, and over 1,000 identified children. The programme has provided reflective spaces that enable focused and individualised approaches to early education practice.
More than a training programme: Moving the Box is a strategic approach to building confidence and potential amongst early years teachers. Under the leadership of early education expert, Jan Dubiel (hey! programme director) we help make informed decisions about what to teach and how to teach it, with a clear focus on equity and impact.
As we approach one year of delivery, we’re excited to share our findings, experiences, and case studies from across the participating areas, providers and schools. These insights share the programme’s inputs, impacts, and the barriers we’ve encountered and overcome.
So, we thought we would hold a conference to celebrate, explore, and understand how these approaches can influence everyone’s practice:
Reflections on the GLD target and explore the conditions and actions needed to achieve it.
Learning about the Moving the Box approach as a method to support raising GLD.
The direct experiences of local areas in the programme in identifying children at risk and shaping practice to better meet children’s needs.
Take away practical ideas to support local action or explore how to get involved in the next phase of Moving the Box.
